O primeiro EP do The Starbems foi lançado no último dia 10 e os caras já anunciaram a data de lançamento do primeiro álbum: dia 5 de junho. Soa familiar? É claro que sim! É o aniversário do Hidaka, o "líder" do The Starbems, que completará 45 anos (com essa cara de adolescente?!)! (*❤◯❤*)
O nome, a capa e a lista de músicas do novo álbum ainda não foram divulgadas. Enquanto o álbum ainda não chega às prateleiras japonesas, deixe-me fazer um pequeno review sobre o EP "Future Primitive"!
The Starbems' first EP was released on April 10 and the guys have already announced the release date of their first album: June 5. Sounds familiar? Of course! It's Hidaka's birthday, the "leader" of The Starbems, who will turn 45 (with this teenager face?!)! (*❤◯❤*)
The title, the cover and the list of songs of the new album have not been announced yet. While the album still doesn't reach the japanese shelves, let me write a little review about the "Future Primitive" EP!
Com três faixas que extrapolam no punk rock, o primeiro EP da banda traduz tudo o que o Toru Hidaka intencionava com o termo "lo-fi indie rock". Misturando punk e hardcore dos anos 80, o The Starbems lembra (e muito) o bom e velho Beat Crusaders, e é tão bom quanto. Esse é, de longe e desde o fim do Beat Crusaders, o melhor projeto de Hidaka Toru. O cara já liderou banda de rock romântico estilo anos 70, banda de pop punk, banda acústica, já gravou faixas putz-putz e hip hop... por quê o Starbems seria ruim?
Pedi o meu "Future Primitive" pela loja virtual Indies Music, pelo simples motivo de estarem distribuindo um brinde exclusivo aos primeiros que adquirissem o CD. Apesar de ter chegado um dia após a data de lançamento, o CD chegou nessa caixa gigantesca que mais parece um caixão:
With three tracks full of punk rock, the band's first EP translates everything that Toru Hidaka purposed with the term "lo-fi indie rock." Mixing hardcore punk from the 80's, The Starbems remember the good old Beat Crusaders, and is just as good as BECR. This is by far and since the end of the Beat Crusaders, Toru Hidaka's best project. The guy has led a 70's style romantic rock band, a pop punk band, an acoustic band and has recorded with techno and hip hop artists... why the Starbems would be bad?!
I ordered my "Future Primitive" EP on Indies Music virtual store, for the simple reason that they were distributing an exclusive gift for the first ones buying the CD. Despite having arrived one day after the release date, the CD arrived inside this gigantic box which resembles a coffin:

Pelas minhas contas, esse é o meu quinto autógrafo do Hidaka (em uma postagem futura, mostrarei todos eles), mas o primeiro que tenho dele como membro do Starbems! *o*
I guess this is my fifth Hidaka's autograph (in a future post, I'll show them all), but it's the first that I have from him as a member of The Starbems! *o*

1. The Crackin'
Foi a primeira música lançada pela banda. É possível notar a versatilidade da voz de Hidaka em cada segundo da canção. Na abertura, o vocal gritado, meio vomitado, de Hidaka, dá o tom da canção. No refrão, a voz suave e melódica do músico, tão presente nos tempos de Beat Crusaders, está de volta.
It was the first song released by the band. It's possible to notice the versatility of Hidaka's voice in every second of the song. At the opening, shouted vocals, kinda "vomited", sets the tone of the track. In the chorus, his soft and melodic voice, so present in Beat Crusaders times, is back.

2. No Reaction
A sonoridade me lembrou, de imediato, da música Satanic Saints, uma das últimas a serem lançadas pelo Beat Crusaders. É, basicamente, uma Satanic Saints mais acelerada, sem tecladinhos e toques pops. No entanto, lá estão os "hey! hey!" tão característicos de Hidaka e sua trupe. A voz "demoníaca" de Hidaka no pré-refrão e os riffs de guitarra são de arrepiar!
The sound reminded me instantly of the song Satanic Saints, one of the last to be released by Beat Crusaders. It's basically a faster Satanic Saints, without keyboards and pop beats. However, there's the characteristic "hey! Hey" of Hidaka and his troupe. Hidaka's "demonic" voice in the pre-chorus and the guitar riffs are just fuckin' amazing!

3. Talkin' 'Bout Lifetime
Adicione um teclado e terá uma música digna do Beat Crusaders. Impossível não lembrar de Firestarter. Refrão grudento e letra simples: fórmula by Beat Crusaders. De longe, minha faixa favorita!
Add a keyboard and, there you go, a genuine Beat Crusaders' song. It's impossible to not remember of Firestarter. Catchy chorus and simples lyrics: Beat Crusaders's formula. By far, my favorite song!

Vejo o The Starbems como um Beat Crusaders 2.0, mais punk, menos pop, mais atitude, menos "zoeira". Em vez de teclado, três guitarras. Em vez de batidas eletrônicas, riffs e vocais acelerados. Os órfãos da banda mascarada provavelmente virarão fãs do Starbems. Acredite nos milagres do Deus Hidaka: ele nunca nos decepcionará! ♪(ﾟ▽^*)ﾉ⌒☆
I see The Starbems as a Beat Crusaders 2.0, more punk, less pop, more attitude, less "joking". Instead of a keyboard, three guitars. Instead of electronic beats, riffs and accelerated vocals. The orphans of the masked band probably will turn into Starbems' fans. Believe in the miracles of God Hidaka: He won't never disappoint us! ♪(ﾟ▽^*)ﾉ⌒☆
